Aurora is a city in Portage County. It is part of the Akron metropolitan area and has a population of 17,239 as of the 2020 census. Aurora was founded in 1799 by Ebenezer Sheldon, a pioneer from New England. Aurora has a rich history and culture, and is home to several places of interest, such as the Aurora Golf and Country Club, the Aurora Historical Society and Museum, and the Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom water park. Aurora also has a diverse economy, with some of the largest employers in the city being TCP Inc., a manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting products; PartsSource, a provider of medical replacement parts; and Rotek, a producer of slewing bearings and seamless rolled rings.
