Defiance is the county seat of Defiance County with a population of 17,155 as of 2021. It is located at the confluence of the Auglaize and Maumee rivers, about 55 miles southwest of Toledo. Defiance has a rich history and was the site of Fort Defiance, a military outpost built by General Anthony Wayne in 1794 during the Northwest Indian War.
