Butler County is the fastest-growing large county in Ohio and the seventh most populous in the state — a testament to the explosive suburban expansion north of Cincinnati. Its county seat is Hamilton, while Middletown and the booming community of West Chester Township are its economic powerhouses. The county is home to Miami University in Oxford — one of Ohio's premier public universities and a nationally recognized institution founded in 1809 — and Xavier University nearby. Major employers include AK Steel (now Cleveland-Cliffs, steel production in Middletown), Mercy Health, Cintas Corporation, Atrium Medical Center and an enormous concentration of distribution centers, logistics hubs, and manufacturing operations along the I-75 and I-275 corridors. Voice of America MetroPark and the Great Parks of Hamilton County system provide significant recreational resources. Butler County is one of the few Ohio counties seeing consistent, robust population growth.
