Williams County is Ohio's northwesternmost county, bordering both Michigan and Indiana, with Bryan as its county seat. The county is home to a globally important corporate citizen: Spangler Candy Company — maker of Dum Dums lollipops, Saf-T-Pops, Necco Wafers, and Circus Peanuts, founded in Bryan in 1906 and one of the longest-running candy manufacturers in American history. Bryan is also home to Dominion Brands (Archway Cookies) and various other food manufacturing operations. The county has a strong agricultural economy and flat, fertile former Black Swamp soils.
